HOMES
When God worked out creation's plan,
And changed mere dust to living man,
A man of reason, feeling, will,
He lacked a fitting climax still.
So, as the crowning work of God,
Was made a home, "'twas very good," Creation's best and final word.
For that first home, we praise Thee, Lord.
When God would form a man of worth,
And bring full excellence to birth,
He fashions first a little child,
A thoughtless youth, untrained and wild. But lest the child should yield to wrong,
He builds a home, a bulwark strong With watchful care and counselled word.
For childhood's home, we thank Thee, Lord.
--Stoughton.
